Rising Stars: Meet Mya P. of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mya P.

Mya P.

Hi Mya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Sage Sownds began long before the name existed. It started on childhood road trips, listening to Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Sade etc., artists who would later define the core of my musical identity. And for me, the turning point of why I fell in love with music was my first listen to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, an album that changed how I heard music. Its storytelling, spirituality, and honesty left a permanent impact.

In high school, that foundation expanded. I discovered alternative R&B and hip-hop—artists like The Internet, Masego, Frank Ocean, NAO, and SZA. That era sparked a deep curiosity and led me to explore a wide range of genres. I truly became fascinated with finding the hidden, the underrated, the undiscovered gems.

As my socials grew, especially on TikTok, It made me wonder what I could do to bring this brand I was essentially creating to life, outside of sharing songs and playlist recommendations. After much brain storming, prayer, reading Hebrews 11:1, I eventually received my answer.

What started as a passion for finding + sharing music, playlist curations and listening to hidden gems in my free time eventually evolved into Sage Sownds: a platform centered around sharing hidden gems and the stories behind them. Today, Sage Sownds hosts intimate listening experiences in Nashville and Atlanta that highlight artists, albums, and genres often overlooked in mainstream culture. The mission remains simple, which is to create community through sound and provide a space for listeners to feel seen, connected, and inspired.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part, it’s been a smooth road. The most challenging part of the journey was me just getting the confidence to just do it and not be afraid of the outcome, in terms of who would show up to the events or who wouldn’t.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently work in Entertainment Marketing. A lot of what I do involves social media, creating visuals, copywriting and staying on trend with whatever is going on in pop culture/music.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I would love to work with local businesses and or creatives that share a similar mission of cultivating creative spaces and fostering community through intimate, unique events centered around the arts, music etc.

If anyone is interested in collaborating, they can follow @sage.sownds on TikTok and Instagram. Also, I’m open to emails as well: [email protected]
