Rising Stars: Meet Nicki Sarra Halford of Erie, PA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicki Sarra Halford.

Nicki, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my jewelry brand, The Faint of Heart, in my dorm room! It really started out as a hobby, but I have always been a big dreamer, so I had aspirations from the start of turning it into a real brand. Over the years I have also explored different creative outlets, which led me to start a “sister brand” to The Faint of Heart – my new art print shop called Wildflower Chapel.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely takes a lot of trial and error to figure out your niche, and learn how to turn a hobby into a sustainable business. For me personally, the creative side is what has always come naturally, so I needed to make sure I was dedicated to learning the business side of things.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
For The Faint of Heart, I make modern bohemian jewelry that combines semi-precious gemstones and crystals with metal shapes that are playful while also having a touch of edginess.

For Wildflower Chapel, I design art prints that capture a bit of a whimsical and ethereal aesthetic.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
This is funny for me – but I think that one of my not-so-great qualities – stubbornness – is actually something that I have been able to shape into a good business quality. I have turned it into a drive for achieving my goals, and it fuels me to be determined and resourceful.
