Rising Stars: Meet Pastor Richmond Owusu – Grace Depot Church of Clarksville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pastor Richmond Owusu – Grace Depot Church.

Hi Pastor Richmond , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Pastor Richmond, and I am the lead pastor of a brand new church in Clarksville, Tennessee, called Grace Depot Church.

My wife and I moved here from California with a clear sense that God was calling us to plant a church rooted in grace, healing, and belonging. We did not come with a launch team, a network, or a built in community. In fact, when we arrived, we did not know a single person in Clarksville. What we did have was faith, obedience, and our two month old baby.

That season stretched us. New city. New responsibility. New parents. And no roadmap. But we believed that if God was truly sending us, He would meet us here. So we stepped into the unknown and trusted Him one day at a time.

In the beginning, the vision did not look impressive. We prayed in our living room. We walked neighborhoods. We met people at coffee shops. We focused on being present before trying to be big. Slowly, God began to connect us with people who were hungry for something real, people who needed grace, community, and a place to belong.

That is how Grace Depot Church was built, through consistency, prayer, and showing up with what we had. We did not wait for perfect conditions. We simply moved forward in faith and let God shape the vision as we went.

Today, Grace Depot is growing. What started with a few people has become a community that feels like family. We are seeing lives changed, faith restored, and people discovering that grace truly changes everything. Every week, I am reminded that obedience, even when it feels risky, creates room for God to do more than we could plan on our own.

We did not come to Clarksville with all the answers. We came with a yes. And that yes continues to carry us forward.

This journey has not been easy, but it has been deeply meaningful. And we are just getting started.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Here’s a stronger opening with a clean, confident flow:

It has not been a smooth road. Planting a church in a new city while becoming new parents came with real challenges, from starting with no connections to navigating limited resources and moments of uncertainty. Those struggles pushed us to depend deeply on God, clarified the vision, and shaped us as leaders. In the end, the difficulty strengthened the foundation of Grace Depot and made the journey meaningful and worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
am the lead pastor of Grace Depot Church in Clarksville, where we help people experience God’s grace in a real and practical way. We focus on clear teaching and authentic community, creating a church that feels like family, not a performance. What sets Grace Depot apart is our emphasis on people over programs and grace over pressure. I am most proud of the culture of belonging and growth we are seeing as lives are being changed.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned is that obedience matters more than clarity. We did not have all the answers when we started, but each step of faith created room for God to provide, shape the vision, and grow the community. Faithfulness in small, unseen moments is what truly builds something lasting.
