Rising Stars: Meet Precious Perez of Louisville, KY

Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious Perez.

Hi Precious, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Chelsea, MA just north of Boston. I knew I was going to sing in some capacity at age six, and that passion only grew throughout my elementary and middle school years singing in choir, participating in talent shows, and starting to write my own songs.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My path has been full of twists and turns including discrimination around my blindness, but I don’t give up easily. I’m blessed to say I’ve cultivated a strong support system throughout the years, and my inner strength has only gotten more solid with every obstacle. I’m thriving now, and that wouldn’t be the case without everything that has led me here.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
singer/songwriter, author, actress, educator, and disability advocate

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is a tapestry of moments spent with family and friends, my favorite snacks, and singing and dancing around my room after school. All the little things that made me who I am today, and all the love that lifted me up. I wouldn’t be where I am without everyone I’ve loved, and everything I’ve overcome.
