Rising Stars: Meet Quentin October of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quentin October.

Hi Quentin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Amesbury, MA 2009 – My first introduction to music making came in the form of my dad unveiling his old classical guitar early one morning and playing some songs from when he was a kid. I was floored – I had never seen anything so impressive in my young life. Despite my immediate interest in the instrument, my dad refused to give me lessons, saying that my hands were too small! After months of incessant pestering, however, he had no choice but to give in. From then on, I was completely hooked. I started practicing every day, learning anything I could – choruses of pop songs, rock riffs, fragments of finger style pieces – whatever I could get my hands on. Shortly after, I began to perform at volunteer events, local bars and small music festivals. For the next few years, I traveled all over New England and beyond playing solo guitar and singing, making quite a name for myself along the way. Then, when I was 19, I decided to leave behind the network I had built in Massachusetts to pursue a Bachelor’s in Music in Nashville, TN. There, I began focusing on writing and recording my own songs, releasing two EPs of original music and performing all around Nashville. I am currently working on recording my first full-length album of original music, set to release early in 2026.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not alway been a smooth road. As is often the case with people who are introduced to their profession at an early age, it took some effort for me to feel like my career was my own. It is difficult to navigate the exceptions others have of you from childhood while you yourself are growing and developing new interests. My move to Nashville has posed new obstacles, as having to rebuild an entire network on your own with entirely new people can be challenging.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I make rock and roll music. Think of it as Pixies meets the Beatles – wild, unpredictable energy and evocative lyrics mixed with catchy hooks and simple songwriting. What sets my music apart is my ability to channel my influences into new and interesting sounds – it’s the feeling of subtle familiarity, but with the sense that you’re listening to something completely new and unique.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What truly makes me happy is sharing great memories with people I love. It really is that simple. Whether it be on the stage, on the road, or somewhere completely unrelated to music, I am at my best when I am with people I love and trust. Don’t make it more complicated than it has to be.
