Rising Stars: Meet Rebellion Dog Rescue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebellion Dog Rescue.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We were just two girls with a big dream. Strangers up until the beginning of 2019 but we both had the same vision for a dog rescue that would help rehabilitate dogs struggling in the shelter system and then place them with foster families and eventually their forever homes. Individually we had dreams of what our rescue would look like- both excited but burdened by the thought of “where do I even begin?” It wasn’t until the beginning of 2019 that we met and quickly realized our mission, values, and goals were completely aligned…down to the very last details of what our future building would look like. Through lots of learning, asking questions, researching and being guided by mentors….we launched Rebellion Dog Rescue. A mission to help break the stereotype of the shelter dog by showing people how amazing these dogs truly are. A place where we can patiently and individually care for the dogs in our program. And then, after lots of love and confidence….place them with their forever families. As of today, we’ve officially placed 13 dogs into their forever homes and we aren’t stopping anytime soon!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
All of the dogs we’ve taken in from our partnering shelters have been difficult cases requiring extensive medical treatment or behavioral intervention. Many have been costly cases in our rescue that have been tricky to place in their forever homes, but so far we have found the perfect fit for them all.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Rebellion Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to finding forever homes for overlooked dogs within shelters across Middle Tennessee. We pull directly from partnering shelters and focus on the dogs whose time is running up. We are most proud of launching this rescue as just the 2 of us (& very supportive husbands!)- while raising our babies at the same time. We are a small team, but we are mighty and love to tackle even the most complicated situations.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
We have learned that we can’t always take on every situation, even as much as we truly want to. We try our best to prioritize the ones we are most equipped to help.
