Rising Stars: Meet Rhett Haney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhett Haney

Hi Rhett, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Been in the Denver music scene for around 25 years now. Started off playing bass in various different bands. Switched to drums about 15 years ago. During Covid I decided it was time to move to the front of the stage. Seems to be going pretty good so far.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s always obstacles when being a musician performing live. From venues canceling shows to problematic musicians it gets bumpy. What I’ve learned, though is that you just need to roll with the punches if you want to get anywhere in this industry. You have to have a thick skin.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Being a singer in a regional country band is definitely not the road to take if you want to “stand out“. The Denver market is absolutely saturated with country bands. Because of this we try to visually represent ourselves as a “stand out band“. The way we do this is not looking sloppy on stage. We keep a very clean stage. We also have a time coded light show along with video monitors that present synchronized content while we are performing. There are no other bands, in any genre in the area doing the same thing.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I don’t know if I would say they are my “favorite“ apps, but by far the two apps that I spend the most time in would be Facebook and Instagram. Simply because I use them as promotional platforms for my band.
