Rising Stars: Meet Roberto Wong of Berry Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roberto Wong

Hi Roberto, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The story I’d like to share involves helping assemble the Bell Road land in Antioch for the city of Nashville to build a new elementary school. I work with a company (HND Realty) focusing on real estate development, building, and brokerage. I was casually scrolling a social media site when I came across someone who mentioned a piece of land in Antioch that she owned and wanted to sell. I contacted her, and one thing led to another, she mentioned she and her neighbors had tried to sell to a developer a few years ago, but were unsuccessful. My partner Will Hostettler and I met with all of the neighbors willing to sell and we took the 12 acres total to market. The city of Nashville reached out to us and engaged in putting together a purchase agreement for all 12 acres. The process took a bit longer than expected, but everyone is excited to see something special that will outlast us and be dedicated to such a special project.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The process of putting together a group of like-minded people is not as hard as it might seem. Communication isn’t always efficient, but we tried to do the right thing and be good people during the process. We have nothing, but respect for all the city planning, finance, politicians, and community members who worked to make this happen since November of 2023.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I consider myself a real estate professional with a focus on land acquisition. I’ve been in the industry for nearly 14 years starting in California as a broker focused on identifying and managing rehab flip properties. Life took me to Nashville in 2019 with the loss of a close friend and it was the best decision I ever made. Once moved, I mainly focused on land acquisitions in a niche called ‘Build to rent” where I sourced land for institutional investors, and then shifted to focus on working with national and regional land developers and home builders. This is where I got connected with my now friend and business partner Will Hostettler. I and very grateful for the people I have worked with, the history I have learned, and the way of life that this town has given me.

We would like to help as many local land and property owners sell or develop their land with hyper-local partners who understand how to get things done in town.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We love meeting new people and hearing their stories of life and how they came to be who they are. Maybe we can learn something from each other!
