Ryleigh Benjamin

Hi Ryleigh, It’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Ryleigh Benjamin, the talented owner of Couture Ink, brings a unique blend of artistry and resilience to the tattoo community near Nashville, Tennessee. Operating her studio in Franklin, Ryleigh has carved out a niche specializing in fine lines and tiny tattoos, captivating clients with her precision and delicate designs. Ryleigh’s journey into tattooing is as inspiring as her artwork. Growing up, she was a big fan of Kat Von D but never imagined tattooing could be her future career. After earning two degrees in college, she moved to Nashville for a sales job. However, the corporate world left her unfulfilled, prompting her to reconnect with her true passions: art and people. Despite facing significant challenges, including a traumatic brain injury in high school that doctors predicted would prevent her from walking or writing again, Ryleigh’s determination and the support of her family helped her overcome these obstacles. With extensive therapy and encouragement from her mom, she regained her abilities and thrived, becoming a highly successful fine-line tattoo artist. When she’s not creating stunning tattoos, Ryleigh enjoys spending quality time with her family: her boyfriend, Adam, daughter Roseleigh, and their beloved dogs, Crouton and Xena. A former dancer and cheerleader, Ryleigh continues to embrace her artistic side, infusing her work with the same passion and dedication that have defined her life. Ryleigh Benjamin’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the pursuit of one’s true calling. Her artistry at Couture Ink reflects her journey, making every tattoo she creates a piece of her inspiring narrative.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Back in high school, after a series of cheerleading accidents, I lost my ability to walk and write, as well as found out I was legally blind in my right eye. After years of physical, vision, and occupational therapy and regaining control over my life, I used that and thrived off of my ability to have such fine details.

Thanks for sharing that. Please tell us more about your work.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was outgoing and deeply involved in competitive cheerleading and dance, which instilled an artistic flair in my soul. As a teenager, I faced a significant setback with a traumatic brain injury, requiring years of intensive therapy to regain essential functions. This experience taught me resilience and reminded me that life is too short to do anything that doesn’t make me or the others around me happy. Despite these challenges, I pursued and earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in sales and marketing, a testament to my determination and commitment to learning. These degrees landed me a job in Nashville, TN. After moving to the big city from a small town in Pennsylvania, I decided to pursue my dreams, and my creative side led me to tattoo.
