Today we’d like to introduce you to Sage Foxe.
Hi Sage , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey behind the decks started a little over a year ago as a way to channel my personal experiences with mental health into something sonic and positive. While I initially focused on perfecting my craft at home, the response I received from my community quickly escalated as I found myself moving from living room mixes to live gigs much faster than anticipated. That evolution has shaped me into a more mindful artist; I’ve learned more of what sounds move a room and how to curate sets that align with the specific energy of a crowd.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a true introvert, my biggest challenge was overcoming the initial anxiety of being the center of attention in a crowded room. In the beginning, it was nerve-wracking, but I soon learned to embrace that discomfort because I knew it was essential for my growth. This struggle ultimately transformed into a strength—it taught me how to remain present under pressure and ensured that I am constantly working on the internal discipline required to thrive in high-energy environments.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a dedicated advocate for wellness and holistic healing, I intentionally align my work with environments that prioritize mental and physical well-being. I’m a strong advocate of the ‘rest as resistance’ philosophy and finding balance amidst the hustle of the creative industry. Currently, I’m collaborating with community leaders and organizations to develop innovative ways to integrate curated soundscapes into wellness practices, ensuring music serves as a tool for grounding and restoration.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have a rock-solid support system behind me. It really starts with my friends; they are my biggest cheerleaders and honestly, they’re the ones in the front row at almost every set I play. Having that personal energy there makes a world of difference.
Beyond that, the Nashville DJ community has been so welcoming. It can be an intimidating scene, but people here have met me with open arms, sharing their insights and just being generally uplifting.
I’m also deeply grateful to the teams at Mashup Nation, Foxy Brown Live, NuRenaissance, and Lulo Soundroom. They took a chance on me for some of my very first professional gigs, which was huge. Breaking into the club circuit in a major city like this is a challenge, and their belief in me provided the foundation I needed.
I feel truly blessed for every opportunity I’ve had so far. As I continue to grow, my goal is to make sure I’m paying that forward and pouring that same support back into the community that helped me get my start.
