Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Grace.
Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am currently a church and conference speaker, self-published author, television producer and host, and creative who offers consulting graphic and web design services to a diversity of clientele from clergy to CEOs, musical artists, authors, small- and large-scale businesses both nationally and internationally.
My story is one of GRACE through many challenges starting with dropping out of high school and getting married and starting a family, not too long afterward which left me in a place where it was very hard to launch any kind of career, but what came next for me was even great, and it was my conversion to the Christian faith. In a quest to find truth and deeper meaning in life, I sought God in very honest and heartfelt prayer and through Christian media. Once I finally made a decision to commit to this faith, it was like a whole new Sarah Grace was awakened.
I became a member of a local church who needed volunteers and offered my service. I thought they would ask me to clean or greet people, maybe show them to their seats or do some type of outreach, but instead, they asked me to design a church program. I didn’t even know how to use the computer I had sitting at home which I had only had for a few months, but I made a commitment to trying. I approached this challenge with my newfound faith and prayer that my hands could be touched by God for the task. I created my first design and within weeks I found myself designing not only printables but even endeavoring to build a website for the first time. Over the next ten years, I offered my services to local churches and clergy and never charged a penny.
During this time in my life, I also had seven children and unfortunately, despite every possible effort and lots of prayers, I chose to end my marriage for many reasons and because I ultimately felt like it was the only possible option for the emotional and physical safety and health of my children and I. So here I was now, a single mother of seven who had been a housewife for almost a decade with my only income being a small weekly salary I was receiving as a pastor of a local church at that time but it wasn’t enough to support a family but guess what did, yes, it was my graphic and web design, after 10 years I launched a business with all the skills I gained while serving in ministry.
As time went on, my business grew and did well considering how I was still juggling my service in ministry, my 7 children, and my business. I was and still so grateful that I had spent all those years educating myself to serve others and now found myself being able to take care of my family from those skills.
Despite, my decision to step down from my role as a pastor to heal from my broken marriage and raise my children I still had a heart for ministry so I took the skills I had gained and begin to create my own designs, and even pushed into the next level of creativity for which was writing books, and then I took it a step further and begin to create my own television programs with a former church member who became part of our spiritual family and was willing to help me, Dr. Danica Myers.
I could go on and on about this incredible journey of experiencing a grace to create that to this day allows me to take care of my family, with now just 5 of the 7 living at home as the two oldest have pushed out into the world. It is also amazing to see how a journey that started with serving a local church has not only resulted in me having a business but also 3 self-published books, and 4 original programs on cable which can be seen a collective total of 8 times a week in Nashville, TN and surrounding counties, Detroit, MI, and some online platforms is quite remarkable.
To this day, I have never been able to complete my educational goals of earning a college degree though I hope to at some point, but I have seen an incredible amount of GRACE in being successful with what I did have, which was a drive to serve, and a faith to trust that where I was weak and uneducated, my faith would make the difference.
I hope that my story will give others hope that GRACE can be found in the most difficult of circumstances and not only give you what you need to survive but can take help you accomplish things you never thought possible.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were times it was very challenging and I felt very helpless and isolated in the struggles I faced to stay in this GRACE I had received. Sometimes money was very tight. Sometimes people talked bad about me. Sometimes I didn’t feel good about myself but I CHOSE to press through those painful moments knowing that my faith would never fail to produce results.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create graphics, websites, promotional videos, and television programs. My most popular items are probably my logo designs, book covers, and flyers. I think what sets me apart from others is my desire to not only create for people but see them thrive in the endeavors they are using my services to promote so I take it personally to do my very best with every client.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Having a heart to serve others and not just benefit from them. I believe people are their best when their motivation is not only directly focused on themselves.
