Rising Stars: Meet Seth Cook of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seth Cook.

Hi Seth, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Been performing since I was 5 years old. Touring with my family band. My whole family is musical. My parents are both singers/performers. My brother plays drums. We had in the high hundreds of gig experience before moving to nashville. Since being in nashville, I’ve made a few solo albums along with being a hired gun for some of the best acts in the business. I’ve played for acts such as Brett Young, John Oates, Mickey Guyton, Maddie & Tae. Just to name a few. I’m grateful for the gift of music and the incredible experiences it’s brought to me. I’ve been to China on tour, played Austin City Limits, played New Year’s Eve in time square. Some crazy moments that have been validating in such an up and down career path!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The ever changing business makes it difficult to navigate at times. The rise of technology has been a massive road block and I hope we learn to use it the right way over time. I also believe the spiritual war in music can be a struggle. It doesn’t always reward the right behavior. As we’ve seen in a lot of the accusations that have come out from the entertainment industry.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I hybrid a few different things! I’m an artist/producer/sideman. I make my own records. I help people make records and I also am hired on guitar/drums for other artists bands. Playing for artists is definitely what I’m probably known for the most. As I’m still establishing myself in the producing/artist world. I think what sets me apart is my experience I bring to any situation. I grew up in studios as a kid and have worked in a lot of musical situations. Stylistically have worked in a lot of different fields. Still a long way to go but I think real time experience is the best attribute you can bring to a situation.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I’ve got a studio in nashville where I produce and write a lot and am always looking to collaborate with new people. You can reach out to me through my website at sethcookmusic.com
