Rising Stars: Meet Sheneka Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheneka Davis.

Hi Sheneka, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Phancee now, but formerly, A Diva’s Fettish Boutique was originally birthed as a Women’s Clothing Boutique in Antioch Tennessee only selling clothes, shoes & accessories. I’ve always had a burning desire for Fashion and adding my own unique touch to other’s closets was an exciting venture to go on. It was a fairly easy and seamless start with the help of my spouse and his uncle doing my complete buildout for my store.

Literally, I had the idea one day and birthed it the next. There was no real planning or preparation, I just woke up one day, went to the Dollar General store next to my house, and asked who was the landlord that owned the empty building. Within three weeks, I recruited my friends and family to help me with my Grand Opening! It was amazing and the community showed me so much, love.

Here are approaching almost 12 years and I would say that Phancee has become a Household name. The name speaks for itself. Most women want to look, Fancy, feel Fancy, and thats where we come in and make their Phancee Dreams a reality.

Phancee is now not only a Women’s Clothing Boutique, but we also specialize in Custom Tees, Signs, Graphics, Business Marketing and so much more. I have coined myself as the Queen of Cultural T-Shirts because we not only use our voices in the African American Community. but we proudly wear them too. We specialize in Motivational Tshirts and also offer bulk discounts of 100 shirts or more to businesses for a low as $10 to bring their Business Vision to life.

Due to the Covid, Phancee no longer has a brick-and-mortar location, we are now mobile. We offer personal styling on our Bus and we also can bring it to you. We host Girl’s Night out Parties and you can also catch us set up in Popup Shops that are hosted in the city… We also have a mobile trailer where we print T-shirts on the spot. It’s as easy as choosing from one of our already preprinted designs, your size, color choice and you walk away with your product in hand.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a Business Owner has not always been a smooth road. Up above the surface, it looks amazing to those that admire your hustle, but underneath all those layers, there have always been moments of uncertainty that looked like, how am I going to pay my overhead this month or how am I going to move all of this extra inventory or how am I going to survive another day?

Then on top of those stressors, Covid strikes and I speak for myself, I was displaced. Let me elaborate on that. It’s never been fun paying out thousands of dollars a month to operate a brick-and-mortar location, but being displaced by Covid and having to house your inventory in three different places and not have access to all of it has been one of the greatest challenges I’ve faced. So even now on a daily basis, I’m still trying to figure it out because honestly, I’m limited. That in essence limits my income.

Brick and Mortar is challenging but being mobile definitely is just as challenging. The mental exhaustion of long days in poor weather conditions and then the wear and tear on your body. None of this is easy and I think it’s important that people know and understand that we endure Business Owners.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work consists of Fashion, Creativity, Community Involvement & being Motivational and Inspiring to others.

I am most proud of the people’s lives that I have impacted. It brings me great joy to put a smile on other’s faces.

What sets me apart from others is I have built a brand that makes me well known. I have my own sense of style and I’m naturally the one that takes the lead! I truly inspire people and that in itself will always set me apart! I’m not afraid to be the only one that’s making noise whether especially when it brings change.

How do you think about luck?
I won’t say that luck has played a role but what I will say being determined and eager to be successful is what keeps me going!
