Spike, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started as a guitarist playing shows in NYC’s lower east side for protest rallies and counter culture concerts in venues that cater to adherents of punk rock culture. Later im time I had to sing as well as play guitar and book show events myself while being homeless. The yippies who ran a community coffee house and bookstore meetup location took a shine to me. They booked us for the Pot Parade concert and protest march event with artist David Peel, Eventually a talent scout found me and put me to work as a model and actor where I worked for companies such as Armani, Obey, Law & Order (tv) and David Letterman. We got to perform on a regular basis at CBGB where punk rock started. Eventually I was printing t-shirts of the band’s logo, booking show, writing albums, tracking them and distrobuting the albums to mom & pops type of brick and mortor stores such as Bleecker Bobs, Generation Records, Rockin Rex and even major chain retail record stores such as Tower Records and Cocoanuts Records. We were workinh with Director Spike Lee playing our somg “Rock n Roll Rwvolution in a tv trailor fir the movie Summer of Sam that also made it into E tv with Howard Stern. Since, I maintain the band’s catelog and merchandise through Sewer Lid Music LLC. We are putting out a new single titled, “ Artificial Intelligence-remix. The track will be released soon possibly August or eatly September of 2026. . Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has always been tough and often uncertain. A lot of setbacks such as band members dropping off due to employment or family issues. Our goal of keeping punk rock going has been tough. The music scene fluctuates often causing trends to change oftten. As one believes it would be smooth sailing it frequently changes and you have to re-calculate what to do.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a small business owner of the music entertainment entity named “Sewer Lid Music LLC” which is not too profitable currently as punk rock music often lacks major radio station airplay. We persist by attaining bookings and merchandise sales that se to keep us afloat.
We are not pop or hardcore as our lyric content has always been about political and social issues that need to be addressed in a proactive manner to get results for the people as a whole; not the 1%. We petform melodic punk rock while our peers have turned their music styles into hardcore music that lacks melody and proactive social issues in their lyrical subject content. We are not wealthy so as we come from homelessness, squatter houses; yet we have a working class mentality. We are between the Agnostic Front new york hardcore music and the green day styles. Our mentors who helped us put our first were Paul and Heidi Follin of Kostabi World who were responsible for painting the art artwork for the Ramones adios amigos album, and Guns N’ Roses use your illusion, albums, and Ramon who worked with our manager of kostabi world. Cheetah chrome of the dead boys is another mentor of this band replay shows with his band in Nashville, Tennessee, Tennessee at the Cobra Nashville manager his song on their cover album the spaghetti incident. The issue is is that we are founded with classic Punk ideas out of New York City through original members of those NEW YORK Punk bands, being our mentors and working with us. We are not a hard-core or pop Punk. It seems we’re stuck in the middle as classic Punk. . . similar to Reagan Youth who were labelled hardcore yet were punk, but that is another story about three years of singing opening for the dead kennedy’s out at tour as a service to the punk rock community
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is seeing the audience full of people dancing to our songs. Other times I get the same feeling when I see a band I like who has a good political message and I see their followers enjoying themselves. I also like cats dogs, nature, I like Just. Finding peace in nature as the world is hectic often what needs to reset.
I really am into love. I find it in nature. I find it in society when I see couples walking by I find it and see the resemblance to my own life, and I appreciate love as the early part of my life there was not enough
