Today we’d like to introduce you to Tawny Yeager.
Hi Tawny, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got started with photography back when I wanted to start a business in event planning. That adventure didn’t last too long, but I still kept the camera. Fast forward a few years, a friend of mine was having a quick wedding and asked me to take photos. So I did, and since that day, I fell in love with it.
I’ve been entirely self-taught and have learned alot through learning from my mistakes. After 2 years of being in the business, I have found my style and my niche.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been smooth! Having a full-time job on top of trying to build a photography business can be hard. It takes alot of “downtime” away from you. On top of the learning aspect, there are TONS of amazing local photographers, so having “imposter syndrome” is real, but you can quickly snap out of it with a positive group of friends and family.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Aside from having a degree in Business Management and working full time as an Administrative Manager, I am a photographer. I specialize in wedding/destination photography and high school/college seniors. I am most proud of my personal growth and my strong will.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
In my personal life, my close-knit group of friends and family make me happy. Having those people to talk through ideas or help you achieve your goals is so beneficial—my boyfriend pushes me to do what I love and helping me learn along the way.
On the business side, happy clients. Seeing the look on their faces or their responses when I deliver their gallery puts me on cloud 9.
