Rising Stars: Meet Téa “Teazy” Tyler of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Téa “Teazy” Tyler.

Hi Téa “Teazy”, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sure, so I started out as a kid with a fake ID sneaking into NYC nightclubs and music festivals, that kid grew up to be the guy behind the nightclubs and festivals that kids are printing their fake IDs for these days.
Essentially, what started as a passion for music and a hunger for community through nightlife turned into a career helping build venues, festivals, creative businesses, and hospitality concepts throughout the city.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all.
Honestly, I don’t know many people in this industry whose road has been smooth.

Personally, I started out as a homeless kid and had to build everything from the ground up. A lot of what I’ve accomplished came from being stubborn enough to keep going when things weren’t working and learning how to create opportunities instead of waiting for them.
Professionally, it’s all the same.
Nearly a decade ago, a lot of what my peers and I were trying to build existed outside of what people traditionally associated with the city.
Many of us spent years advocating for spaces, artists, and experiences that didn’t fit the traditional mold because before venues like Night We Met or The Office ever existed, we were building communities wherever we could. There were times we’d pack 500 to 800 people into spaces that probably had no business holding that many people, offering open bars and taking significant losses simply because we believed the scenes needed a place to gather.
It’s all is paying off now though, and it’s so damn beautiful to see.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, throughout my career, I believe I’ve specialized in creating experiences, communities, and operational systems that help creative projects grow beyond what people thought was possible.
Whether it’s a music festival, nightclub, live venue or hospitality project. I’m usually drawn to structures that are trying to do something different and need someone who can bridge creativity, culture, and execution.

I’ve been fortunate to be involved with projects like Night We Met, The Office, Deep Tropics, Altru Creative, and a number of concepts throughout Nashville.

With that, I’ve been asked “What are you most proud of?” before and honestly, it’s impossible to choose. I tend to think of all of these projects as my children. No matter how much time passes since being apart of the teams or where my career takes me next, I’ll always root for them and want to see them succeed. Each represents a different chapter of my life and a different group of people who believed in building something special together.

Any big plans?
Right now, I’m most excited about this new opportunity I have in joining the team at ‘Aura Live’.
It brings together so many things I’ve spent my career working toward, yanno? Live music, hospitality, culture, community, and creative programming.
We’ve already hosted some prominent acts in soft launches across multiple different genres of entertainment.
I think that’s what makes the project special. It’s not built around one genre or one audience. We’re creating a space where great experiences can happen regardless of who’s on stage, all ya gotta do is bring your true self.
I’m excited to help shape what that becomes over the next few years, and eager to share some of the cool things we have cooking.
