Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Karkowski.
Hi Tim, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Australia, I worked at Mac Donald’s as my first job. I use to sing a lot in the back area and one day someone told me I could sing and it’s something I always wanted to do.
So since then I bought an old nylon guitar and kept at it every day, eventually I got good enough to write my own music (not very good writing haha). I kept at that till I was 20 and booked my first gig. I was so nerves even though the room wasn’t very busy at all. After that gig I got a euphoric feeling so I kept looking to book more. Eventually I was gigging 3 times a week which meant I only got better over time. I also wrote a lot too.
In 2018 my friend auditioned me for the voice Australia and somehow I made it in. I couldn’t believe it!. So I kept at practicing the song every day non stop. I made it through the first round and my life changed. I was a bricklayer at the time and then I knew I wanted to focus on my singing more full time so I slowly aimed at that goal.
In 2022 I went on Australia’s got talent and done well on that also due to preperation but after that I wanted more. I saw and add to dance in Vegas, I couldn’t dance but I applied anyway. Now I’m dancing for thunder down under which has lead me to here and I’ve incorporated singing into the show also so now at least I’m here doing my passion also.
Now being 31 I write music and release it monthly mainly due to I love it and chose to never stop even if I don’t become anything big from it. I’m grateful for my journey and hope there is more to come.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Leaving family and friends behind to travel the states has been isolating and hard at times but I know it will lead me to something and I always stick to my gut.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My job is quite interesting, I dance in a make review show. I didn’t know how to dance but they trained me for months and when I got good enough I showcased bringing singing into the show and now I’m trying to even bring guitar in also.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risks are always good. They just don’t feel good when it dosnt go your way, but I’m glad I do them. Leaving my life behind in Australia was one of the biggest ones I’ve taken. Financially and emotionally.
