Rising Stars: Meet Tony Carpenter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Carpenter.

Hi Tony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Tony Carpenter I sing/write R&B & rock music which I call Rock&B I’m originally from Kankakee, Illinois I moved to Nashville in 2014 to be near family but quickly fell back in love with my first love which is music.

I come from a musical family my greats including my grandmother Melody Winfield Reed a traveling family gospel band called the Reed Family Singers, my great-grandfather was part of the original Crusaders which was a gospel group, he was also a good friend of the late Bing Crosby, my great aunt is blues icon & legend Francine reed she’s a solo artist, and regular singing partner of Lyle Lovett since the 1980s and member of Lovett’s large band.

She has also recorded duets with Willie Nelson, Delbert McClinton, and others my mother also sings which is where I got my daily dose of live vocals growing up.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road I’ve dealt with a lot of ups and downs within my career it’s been an emotional rollercoaster one minute you can feel like you’re on top of the world performing on big stages with those you’ve watched growing up & the next minute your back performing for free at the local open mic lol but it’s all part of the grind and I’ve loved every minute of it.

The grind is what’s sculpted me into the rockstar that I am today and it’s only up from here! At this point, I’m betting it all on myself! All gas no breaks! Chances make champions! And there are no shortcuts to this business the only way to that pot of gold is going straight through!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
A singer/songwriter. I’ve written songs such as (Her Song) (You) (London Bridgez) (Don’t Know) (Material Girl) (Mistress & My Girlfriend) & (Move) which together have amassed over 100,000 + streams across all platforms I’ve opened for Tank, Lyfe Jennings, Sunshine Anderson, & H-Town I’m most proud my tenacity which is the reason that I don’t give I keep going!

No matter what happens and how many no’s I get I still persevere because I know that I will become a highly successful artist! What sets me apart from other artists is my innovation and ability to adapt to any genre and dominate I’ve mastered my style so I can implement it into any genre of music!
