Rising Stars: Meet Tori O’Hara, Matt O’Hara, Layla O’Hara of Clarksville, TN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori O’Hara, Matt O’Hara, Layla O’Hara.

Hi Tori O’Hara, Matt O’Hara, Layla O’Hara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started Float Ya Boat following the pandemic’s impact on the job market and overall quality of life. After our daughter, Layla, was born, we wanted to build something that would benefit both our family and the community.

Floating the Red River is an activity we have enjoyed for years, as being immersed in nature is very important to us. However, we noticed that while water access to the Red River is well-maintained, many families struggle with logistics and equipment. We often faced the same challenges: coordinating multiple vehicles, forgetting keys, and struggling with low-quality, easily damaged inflatables.

Our mission is to provide affordable solutions to these issues. Since river access is public property, we operate as a fully mobile hub for shuttle, float, kayak, and inflation needs. We offer a flexible shuttle schedule and rent high-quality, river-grade tubes that are much more durable than standard retail options. We also provide professional inflation services to get guests on the water quickly and rent kayaks for those who prefer to paddle.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Keeping our prices affordable in the ever-inflating nature of the economy.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The most special part of our job is the fun we get to have with guests. Seeing people seamlessly enjoy a day on the water because of the work we put in is fulfilling, and it doesn’t get old! We also take pride in being very safety conscious. We offer life jackets of all sizes free of charge, and regularly float the river ourselves to make sure there is no debris that could put a damper on anyone’s experience.

An important part of what we do is hosting river clean-ups. We normally host a couple of our own river clean-ups every season. This includes cleaning up trash at the water access locations, and the river itself. We treat our volunteers to a free float and lunch. Additionally, we facilitate other business’ clean-ups, as well as the city’s Parks and Recreation Department for their clean-up efforts. Clean-up days are our favorite way of helping the community and the environment.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
We are not part of a corporation! A question we often receive is if we are part of a franchise, or a corporate entity. Float Ya Boat is a small, family owned business. It takes all of our love and attention to keep things running smoothly at Float Ya Boat.
