Rising Stars: Meet Tory Gunn Smith of Nashville, TN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tory Gunn Smith

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
With a love of all things creative and a background in theatre, event planning came as a natural next step. After a 6 year theatre internship during middle and highschool where I learned the ins and outs of bringing performances to life on and off the stage, I also gained experience serving and by the time I was 20 had taken mixologist courses and received by ABC license with Tennessee. I begin in the event industry in 2012 with corporate banquets and events, and was introduce to huge vendors in the event world as well as leading corporations across Middle, TN. From there I went back to school to become a licensed Aesthetician and work in the event world doing facials, makeup, waxing and lashes. For 6 years I owned and operated a successful skincare business. In 2019 I finally decide it was time to dive headfirst into planning events. Little did I know the world would change alot in 2020, but through much persistence and faith Simply thrived, and has become what you know into be today. We are a family owned and operated business. Simply works events across Middle, Tennessee and beyond, doing everything from showers, to corporate events and weddings.. Building our business into other states has always been a dream of mine, and seeing that come to fruition has truly been a blessing. But the biggest blessing is getting to work along side of my always supportive husband.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As with any business there are always obstacles. But I think the most important thing is to keep a positive attitude and keep the goal in mind. I think this mindset throughout any event or any business has to be a must in order to keep up the moral of the staff, as well as clients.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Simply Events LLC is an event planning team. We offer full planning, partial planning, month of and day of coordination for any event. No event is too big or too small, or too far away. We also offer bartending, serving, and have a licensed officiant on staff. I would say the quality of our work sets us apart. We want you to enjoy your special day without worrying about the details. If you hire us, you are taking the headache out of the planning and just enjoying your event. We also specialize in the creative aspect of planning. There is nothing we love more than a client giving us a rough draft of what their expectations are, and us getting to get our design boards out and bring that vision to life.
