Rising Stars: Meet Tyra Madison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyra Madison.

Hi Tyra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started singing when I was 4 years old. I’m from a small town in eastern Kentucky called Pine Top. I grew up going to a bluegrass get-together with my papaw, mamaw, and uncle. There I would get up and sing at the ripe age of 4, “Rocky Top.” My bluegrass background shifted to my love for country music when I was in high school, and I started traveling from KY to TN when I was 17 years old as a songwriter. I attended Belmont University as a commercial voice major and have lived in Nashville for 7 years as a songwriter and country music artist.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say smooth, but I would say milestones have happened in my career. What you learn is that the music industry is not easy. If it were, everyone would do it. You have to have a certain level of determination and passion for being in this business. I have gotten more no’s in this career than yeses, but I use that as a motivator to practice my craft, do better and be better.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a country music artist. I am most- known for my song “Right Girl Wrong Time,” which is now over 10 million streams collectively over music platforms. It blew up on TikTok and is still growing to this day. I just released a song called “Bridesmaids,” a timeless wedding song that pays tribute to the people you want standing beside you when your big day comes. You can stream “Bridesmaids” on all music platforms now.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I used to be an Elsa impersonator in high school. I probably performed “Let It Go” at over 500 birthday parties. It was a good job for a while.
