Today we’d like to introduce you to Vicky Reddish.
Hi Vicky, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I really fell in love with art in high school because I had incredible teachers who invested so much time in us. I painted off and on from then until 2016 at which time I made a space in my home for a studio. Since then, I have enjoyed being able to paint anytime!
I love to travel and I am so fortunate I get to do it so often. I am inspired by nature and the textures of old buildings and relics. I am wildly passionate about color. I primarily work with acrylic paint but I’m always trying new mediums and ideas. I am passionate about capturing the emotion and complexity of a moment or memory in my work.
I love art, I love making it, I love looking at it, and more recently enjoy collecting it. I have a small collection of original art from other artists that I hope to grow in time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Art mirrors life in that it ebbs and flows.
Sometimes the work comes easily and other times it is emotional and hard. Releasing a collection that you have poured your heart into is very vulnerable and artists do it over and over again.
It’s exhilarating, exciting, and humbling. The struggles make each victory, each connection with a collector, and every sold work sweeter and I wouldn’t trade any of it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work full-time in the travel industry as a Content Marketing Manager and the most rewarding part of that work is getting to invest and lead a team of young professionals. Between working full time in marketing and working almost full time as an artist as well, I am so lucky to be living my dream life.
As far as what sets me apart in my art, I believe my natural bent towards positivity mixed with my love of textures allows me to create art with a very positive, peaceful energy.
I care deeply not just about my own art but the artistic community in general. I hope to live my life as someone who always cheers for others and invites them to the table.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
When I was a little girl, Christmas morning was the highlight of my year. My mom worked so hard to plan surprises and make them extra magical.
We would put out cookies for Santa and I would go to bed extra early just so Santa would visit me first… and because I was so excited I could hardly stand it.
I would always wake up in the middle of the night and wake up my mom and then run down to the tree where presents were always placed so carefully and I felt known and so loved. I still remember the magic of those moments and there is nothing like being a kid at Christmas.
