Rising Stars: Will Elliott of The Music City Sound

Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Elliott.

Hi Will, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Music City Sound began in 2015. At the time, I was touring the country with a major country artist, playing some of the biggest stages alongside some of the biggest names in the business. I was incredibly fortunate to experience some of the best opportunities the music industry has to offer.

Still, I felt something was missing. I had a growing desire to be closer to home, to start a family, and to create something of my own that could offer both stability and create an avenue for me to continue working in music. That’s when the idea for The Music City Sound was born.

We started the band with close friends and talented musicians I had met over the years on the road. What began as a small group of passionate performers has grown into a thriving organization. Today, The Music City Sound performs around 100 events per year. We now operate with three regularly booked bands, allowing us to bring our sound and energy to weddings, corporate events, and special occasions all over the country.

What drives us most is the privilege of being part of people’s most cherished and sacred days. Whether it’s a wedding, a milestone celebration, or a once-in-a-lifetime event, we don’t take the honor lightly. We pour our hearts into every performance because we know how much these moments mean—and it’s our passion to help make them unforgettable.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve been very fortunate in many ways. The Music City Sound has grown every year since we started, and we continue to see that upward momentum. That said, no business journey is without its challenges—especially when you’re building something from the ground up.

In the early days, we were figuring things out as we went. From booking logistics to managing a growing roster of talented musicians, there was a lot to learn. As demand increased, we had to quickly adapt and learn how to scale our operations while still delivering the same high-quality experience we were known for. That meant developing better systems, expanding our leadership team, and continuing to invest in the people who make our product great.

One of the biggest challenges we faced was during the pandemic. Our entire business model is built around performing for large private events—weddings, galas, corporate functions—and in 2020, that industry came to a complete halt. Like so many in the live events space, we had to pivot quickly. We worked closely with clients to reschedule events, stayed flexible, and leaned into the relationships we had built over the years. It was a tough season, but it also reinforced the resilience of our team and the value of the service we provide.

Through it all, our commitment has always been the same: deliver the absolute best experience every time. And that mindset has helped us not only survive, but thrive.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wear a lot of hats—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m the owner of The Music City Sound, but I also serve as the manager, keyboard player, sound engineer, production manager, logistics coordinator—you name it. In this business, flexibility is everything. You’ve got to be ready to jump in wherever you’re needed, and I’ve found a lot of joy in being a jack of all trades.

While I may not be the best at every single role, I can step in and get the job done. Whether it’s solving last-minute challenges, making sure the sound is perfect, or helping with travel arrangements, I’m able to keep the wheels turning and the show running smoothly. And that’s what’s required in this business—adaptability, humility, and a strong work ethic.

As a company, we specialize in delivering unforgettable live music experiences for weddings, corporate events, and private parties. What we’re known for is our energy, our professionalism, and our ability to connect with a crowd. We’re not just a band—we’re part of the entire event experience. We know how to read the room, adapt in real time, and create moments that people will remember for the rest of their lives.

I’m most proud of the team we’ve built. It’s made up of incredibly talented musicians and professionals who genuinely care about what they do. What sets us apart is not just our talent, but our consistency. No matter which of our groups is performing, clients know they’re getting top-tier talent, polished production, and a crew that’s fully invested in making their event special.

How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t just about client satisfaction—it’s about creating an unforgettable experience. We want our clients to be completely blown away by the night we help them create, to feel like their event was the best night of their lives. We aim for them to be so excited about the experience that they can’t stop talking about The Music City Sound for years to come. That’s the kind of impact we want to leave.

But it’s not just about the client—it’s about their guests, too. We want everyone in the room to feel like they were part of something special. Our goal is for people to walk away saying, “We have to have The Music City Sound at our event!”—and we’re constantly working to make that happen.

Success also means providing an environment where our musicians and team can thrive. While many groups hire temporary musicians for gigs, we’ve always aimed to create something more enduring—something that sustains our teams, their families, and their careers. If we can build a community where everyone feels valued, supported, and excited to grow with the business, that’s the true measure of success.
