Shan, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve really been enjoying slow, intentional mornings. Taking time for my devotional while sipping a warm cup of tea or coffee sets the tone for my day. It’s a grounding practice that allows me to reflect, find peace, and center myself before stepping into the busyness of work and life. Those quiet moments of stillness bring me clarity and joy, and they remind me of the importance of balance and mindfulness.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the co-owner of Provision Health Solutions, an in-home care company dedicated to providing compassionate and individualized support to our clients. What makes our work unique is our commitment to creating personalized care plans that truly reflect the needs, preferences, and goals of each individual we serve.

I bring over 11 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, along with the leadership skills and advanced knowledge I gained through earning my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). This background allows me to bridge clinical expertise with business strategy, ensuring that our clients receive high-quality, client-centered care while also empowering our team to grow professionally.

At Provision Health Solutions, our mission goes beyond simply delivering care. We strive to enhance quality of life, foster independence, and bring peace of mind to families. Being able to combine my nursing background with entrepreneurship has been both rewarding and humbling, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Early in my nursing career, I encountered a patient who was very challenging, using profanity toward staff and others to the point where no one wanted to care for them. When it became my turn, I chose to approach the situation differently. I sat down beside the patient and simply asked, “What happened to you?” A principle I had learned through my trauma-informed care training.

That moment completely shifted the dynamic. The patient’s demeanor changed, and from then on they were pleasant not only with me but with the rest of the staff as well. They never asked about how long I had been a nurse, my credentials, or any of my qualifications. What they needed was compassion, not credentials.

It was in that experience that I fully embraced the idea that “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” That lesson has shaped not only how I practice nursing, but also how I lead, build relationships, and serve my community today.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me lessons that success alone never could chief among them, empathy and resilience. When you walk through seasons of hardship, you learn to see people differently. You begin to understand that behind every struggle is a story, and that perspective allows you to connect with others on a much deeper, more human level.

While success can validate your hard work, suffering humbles you. It strips away pretense, sharpens your priorities, and reminds you of what truly matters: faith, family, health, and relationships. It also gives you a greater capacity for gratitude; after enduring hard moments, even small victories feel monumental.

Those experiences have shaped not only who I am personally but also how I lead and care for others. They remind me that strength is not just about achievement, but about the grace and perseverance to keep moving forward when things are difficult.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
n both healthcare and business, I’ve learned that fads often bring excitement but fade quickly because they aren’t rooted in evidence or lasting value. Foundational shifts, on the other hand, create meaningful change that improves outcomes, efficiency, or quality of life.

For me, the difference comes down to three things:

Sustainability – Does this idea or practice hold up over time, or does it lose momentum once the novelty wears off?

Impact – Is it solving a real problem and making people’s lives better, or is it simply following trends?

Evidence – Is there data, research, or lived experience that validates its effectiveness?

In healthcare, we’ve seen many “quick fixes” that didn’t last because they weren’t practical or patient-centered. But true shiftslike trauma-informed care, patient-centered models, or innovations that improve safety and access become part of the standard of care because they address real needs.

The same principle applies to leadership and entrepreneurship. When you focus on what genuinely creates value for people, you can distinguish between temporary noise and meaningful progress.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Maya Angelou once said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” I truly believe that captures the essence of my work.

If I retired tomorrow, I think my clients and their families would miss my kindred spirit, bubbly personality, and patience. Beyond clinical skills and services, I strive to bring warmth, encouragement, and positivity into every interaction. My goal is always to create an atmosphere where clients feel seen, valued, and cared for with genuine compassion.

That human connection, paired with patience and a joyful spirit is something I hope leaves a lasting impression, whether I’m actively working or not.
