Kaelynn Mooningham shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Kaelynn, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
I would hire myself for my out of the box thinking and passion to create memorable moments in already special occasions. My drive for creating something special even in the smallest of details I believe gives me an edge as I feel that we have lost the motivation to do well just because, for a sense of self accomplishment.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kaelynn. I am the owner and cottage bakery of Three Layers Bakery.
I specialize in custom deserts for all event types. I started in mid 2023 after specializing in weddings and catering, I made the decision to branch out on my own focusing on deserts and treats. I’m a mom of three boys and named my bakery with them in mind.
Currently I’m working on my bachelors in Business, while taking custom orders, and adjusting to a high school, middle school, and elementary school student.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
The book of Job taught me the most about working. Over the last year I found myself on a path of discovery, and the book of Job in the Bible stuck out to me the most, I think we can all admit that there have been some tough times in the last several years, whether that’s the increasing cost of living or the rifts of bonds due to strong will. However that no matter what you experience, there is a way through. The key is faith, with your head up that nothing comes without purpose.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would go back and tell myself to be kinder, and patience. It’s your first time here, and probably theirs too. You’re going to make it, I promise.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Conviction plays a part in deciding what path you choose. Whether a fad speaks to you in a way that changes your perception, or corrects misinformation, we have to trust our decrement to make changes that align with our personal morals.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop spending time online entirely. I use social media often to engage with customers but can find myself sucked into the doom scrolling. I would spend every moment present and experience the sun, the breeze, the smells, everything I know I would miss.
