We recently had the chance to connect with Anne-Marie Kida and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Anne-Marie , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I am being called to step into a role that allows me to serve in a deeper, more intentional way. In the past, the idea of ownership might have felt intimidating – holding the vision and carrying the responsibility. But now it it feels less like something to fear and more like something I’ve been preparing for all along. So many life experiences (some clear, some subtle) have led me here. This is about leading with alignment, heart and a sense of devotion to our sweet community. I feel ready, not because I have all the answers, but because I trust the purpose behind the path.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Anne-Marie, the new owner of New Moon — a small, heart-centered yoga studio rooted in community. At New Moon, yoga is more than what we practice on the mat. It’s about connection with yourself, with each other, and with the present moment.
What makes our studio special is the openness of our small space and the genuine relationships that form here. Our studio is a welcoming, nurturing space where you can show up exactly as you are. Whether you’re moving through challenges or perhaps needing a bit of stillness, New Moon is a space to soften, to grow, and to remember you don’t ever have to do it alone.
We offer a wide range of classes — from slow flow and vinyasa to yin, restorative, gentle,Trauma Sensitive and LYT — so there’s always something to meet you right where you are. We’ve recently added a variety of new offerings, so even with a busy schedule – you’re likely to find something to fit into your day.
No matter what you come here looking for, I think you’ll find a practice that supports you here.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
The illusion that we are separate. I think we have a tendency to forget our shared humanity – our longing to be seen or be loved and we build walls around our hearts. Fear, judgement and disconnection grow in that space of forgetting.
Remembering restores those bonds. Remembering that we are all connected. Love, presence and honest connection have the power to soften the spaces between us. If we can meet each other with compassion instead of assumptions, we begin to heal.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering strips away illusion. It teaches us to let go, to soften, and to be okay with the unknown. It also teaches us that our hardest moments won’t last forever – and the same with the good moments. We hold both joy and pain with an open heart. This awareness has brought me more peace than I think any success ever could.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I grew up in an Italian-American household where family wasn’t just important – it was everything. We gathered together (loudly) passionately, and often. That kind of togetherness shaped me. It taught me the value of showing up for one another, making space for connection, and turning everyday moments into something meaningful.
I recognize this is why I care so deeply about building the community at the studio. To me, a yoga studio should feel like a coming home – a warm and welcoming space that is filled with people who remind you that you are never alone. Family, chosen or otherwise is everything.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
When I remember how little control I actually have. Trusting that even when things don’t go the way I expect them to, they are still leading me somewhere meaningful.
