Story & Lesson Highlights with April Nicole Scipio

We’re looking forward to introducing you to April Nicole Scipio. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning April Nicole, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, what’s bringing me the most joy is simply spending time with my family. With a daughter in college, those moments when we’re all under the same roof have become rarer—and more meaningful. Whether it’s a family dinner, a spontaneous game night, or just catching up in the kitchen, I find myself soaking it all in a little more. These everyday moments feel like tiny treasures.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m April Nicole Scipio—speaker, author, mentor, and founder of Live Love Lead Media, a company that helps purpose-driven women get unstuck and step confidently into the life and leadership they were created for. After being unexpectedly let go from my job in education, I found myself at a crossroads—and that moment became the catalyst for everything I do today.

My passion is creating life-giving spaces for women to grow personally, build meaningful community, and live with intention. Through coaching, live events, and content, I help women design lives and businesses rooted in purpose—not pressure.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding our mentorship programs and creating tools that support women in building strong mindsets, meaningful routines, and clear action plans. At the heart of it all is this belief: when women feel aligned and supported, they lead and live with more joy, clarity, and impact.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
At the root, I believe what breaks the bonds between people is disconnection—when we stop truly listening, when we assume instead of ask, or when we let fear, pride, or unspoken hurt build walls. Misunderstandings and unmet expectations can quietly erode even the strongest relationships if we’re not intentional.

What restores those bonds? Humility. Compassion. And the willingness to lean in and do the work. I’ve seen powerful healing happen when people choose curiosity over judgment and grace over defensiveness. At the end of the day, connection is built when we create safe spaces for honesty, forgiveness, and growth—both for others and for ourselves.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to sit still and listen—not just to the noise around me, but to what was happening within me. When everything feels like it’s falling apart, you’re forced to ask different questions—deeper questions. Questions that success can often drown out with busyness and applause.

In the hardest seasons of my life, I learned what truly matters. I learned how to be anchored in who I am, not just what I achieve. I discovered strength I didn’t know I had, clarity I didn’t know I needed, and a deeper compassion for others walking through their own silent battles.

Success is beautiful—but it rarely asks us to slow down. Suffering, though painful, often becomes the unexpected invitation to transform from the inside out.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d probably say I care deeply about living with intention—about showing up fully for the people I love and creating spaces where others feel seen, supported, and empowered. Relationships matter to me. Purpose matters to me. And I think they’d say I’m someone who doesn’t just talk about growth—I genuinely live it. I value integrity, alignment, and joy, and I’m passionate about helping others uncover what really lights them up and build a life around that.

Also, they’d probably add that I care way too much about my planner and love a good journaling session with hot Earl Grey in hand!

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I lived fully, loved deeply, and led with purpose. That I made people feel seen, safe, and inspired to go after the life they were meant to live. I want the story to be that I didn’t just chase success—I built a life of impact. That I helped women believe in themselves, reminded them of their worth, and created spaces where they could grow and thrive.

More than anything, I hope the story they tell is one of consistency and kindness—that I showed up with grace, pursued my purpose with passion, and left the world a little brighter for having been here.
