We recently had the chance to connect with Brian Tull and have shared our conversation below.
Brian, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
I would hire me. I don’t slack off, and always give my best to get the job completed right.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a local artist based in Antioch, TN, specializing in photorealism style paintings and large-scale murals. I work heavily from reference photos and rarely stray from them; presenting clients with designs, then giving them precisely what they want by following my references and mock-up designs. By mastering photorealism painting using oils, acrylics, aerosols, or a mixture of all, I’m able to give the client any style they choose, exactly how they imagined.
Thanks to lots of blessings and and answered prayers, I’ve been painting full-time since 2007. My paintings are in numerous public and private collections, and I’ve been privileged to share outdoor and indoor murals with the public since 2009. I’ve painted murals on state, local, and regional levels, both public and private, and have provided murals for Verizon, Venmo, Dos Equis, Tom’s Shoes, Spotify, and Peacock TV to name just a few; even managed four murals for Kamala Harris in Atlanta, GA last year. I have public art murals in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and just finished a mural this summer at Homestyle Bakery in Antioch.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I met my little girl, Olive. She’s eight years old now. When she was born, and through her toddler years, even now, I just see more life and goodness in the world.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Every single thing will always work out how it should. Do not worry about anything at all.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, definitely.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I could.
