We’re looking forward to introducing you to Brooklyn McHugh. Check out our conversation below.
Brooklyn, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Energy is by far the most important quality to me. It’s something you need to carry into every aspect of life. When you consistently show up with positive energy, it inspires those around you and lifts everyone up. While intelligence and integrity matter as well, it’s the energy you bring that makes all the difference.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Brooklyn—raised in the suburbs of Washington, DC in Northern Virginia alongside my four older sisters and younger brother. At 15, my family relocated to Sarasota, Florida due to my dad’s work. He’s an Ole Miss alum and advocated for all of us to follow in his footsteps, which worked out well for me since that’s where I discovered their stellar Integrated Marketing Communications program. That experience sparked my love for social media and motivated me to launch a foodie account.
After finishing college, I headed straight to Nashville, where the dining scene never stops evolving. New restaurants open constantly, making this city a continuous source of inspiration—and delicious meals—even if it means dining out sometimes stretches my budget for life’s little luxuries. One of my proudest moments has been having restaurants invite me to try their food, a true win for my page.
Now, my friends and family know me as “Foodzzy”. For every birthday, anniversary, or special occasion, they come to me for where to eat. What I started as a personal project has grown into a way to bring people together and help them create new memories. That’s the power of food for me—it’s about connection, community, and the moments we share over a great meal.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that’s had the greatest influence on how I see myself is the bond I share with my Gigi—my grandma. Growing up, I always found spending time with her far more appealing than sitting in front of the TV with my siblings and cousins. I loved helping her around the house: planting flowers, tidying up, and most of all, creating dinners for everyone together.
Every summer during my visits, I’d turn her dining room into my own little restaurant, “Beauty at the Beach.” With Gigi’s house perched on the shore of Lake Michigan, our dinners came with an unforgettable view of the sunset. I set up a menu, a host stand, and even enlisted my brother and sister as my staff to help serve plates and pour drinks.
Gigi has always reminded me that I’m her sweet, creative girl. I treasure our closeness and the special memories we’ve made. From her, I’ve learned the importance of working hard and then savoring the rewards—a delicious meal shared with those you love. No matter what, we always gave thanks for the blessings we had around that table.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could give my younger self advice, I’d remind myself to stay true to who I am without worrying about fitting in. Embracing what makes me different is what will help me stand out. Don’t hold yourself back or worry that you’re too much—because the people who truly matter will appreciate you just as you are, and might even see qualities in you that you don’t realize.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
That you can manifest anything you want!
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
Traveling the world!!!
