Story & Lesson Highlights with Dani Dyer of Donelson

We recently had the chance to connect with Dani Dyer and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dani, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Usually I wake up say my gratitude for waking up and positive energy for a great day. I turn on a podcast and either go for a walk or eat my first meal and get right to training clients or working on online programming.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey everyone my name is Dani Dyer owner of Dani D. Fitness a body positive personal training brand. What makes this brand special is it’s not just about one thing it’s about the whole brand. The love your body method is about getting your movement in, fighting for what you want, and loving your body throughout. From 1:1 training I also do online programming, virtual training for clients all over the U.S. as well as have my own supplement Fight energy, my own podcast: The LYB podcast , a self help book, How To: Love Your Body Throughout, as well as challenges I do throughout the year to help you embrace this journey. I do free community events once a month showcasing my MoveFit format as well as speaking engagements as a give back to the community to help inspire and motivate people to move and love their bodies. I also do influencer work with brands all over most notable to date Kenect Nashville, Nobull and Smoothie King.

I have been a dancer my whole life and never looked like a dancer but always loved movement. As I grew older I dealt with body shame, being on diets and verbal abuse and learned in college I wanted to live a real healthy lifestyle and show people no matter my size I could do amazing things. And that’s what this brand has shown from going viral for flipping a 500lb tire to body building and half marathons I’ve done movement and excelled at every size and don’t plan on changing that anytime soon. My mission currently is to continue helping as many people as possible through this mission feel their strongest and start to love themselves.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
There are many relationships but if I had to pick one my relationship with my dad. He has always seen me for me the good and the not so great parts. He encourages me daily and motivates me to be my best no matter what’s going on and find the positive. This has helped me greatly to see my best version of myself when I doubt or feel less than. I am so thankful for all those who support me and see me for me.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I got injured in 2020 and was in excruciating pain every day. I painted a smile on and fought through it but it was the hardest time in my life. I stopped competing in strongman competitions and felt like I lost everything except my business. It taught me that things will get better eventually if you just keep moving forward. Now I have little to no back pain and can feel my left leg again after 5 years of working on being my strongest self. That resilience has helped me through grief and so much more that’s happened since.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. The version of me online is who I am in real life. I am as authentic as I feel you can be on socials and that’s on purpose. I have always used my platforms to help others but also to be an expression for myself to speak on things that really matter to me and share my unique but also relatable experiences. I feel a responsibility to set the example and help others through my story always. My relationship with God is prominent and I believe no matter how much those around you don’t believe in you or hurt you, letting go of resentment is huge in being my best self and a servant on this Earth in fulfilling HIS plans for me.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Investing in real estate it’s a slow game but it’s something I feel important for all entrepreneurs to invest in real estate, have an investment portfolio or find other streams of income.
