We’re looking forward to introducing you to Diego ‘Bull” Avello. Check out our conversation below.
Diego ‘Bull” , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
What I’m chasing, I’m carrying it with me… Rock and Roll. Rock and Roll is the motor of my life; it was what really elevated my horizons and took me out of my comfort zone. It makes life a very vibrant and intense experience, full of ups and downs, but definitely full of life! I was chasing it until I realized it was always with me. I don’t know what would happen if I stopped… a different type of life, better? Worse? Who cares? This is the path I chose, and this is the path I’ll stay on.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
“Bull y Los Búfalos” is an American Rock band with a singer/songwriter Diego “Bull” Avello, a 6’6” frontman from Spain who recently moved to Nashville, TN after years living in Austin, TX.
Take American Rock and Roll, mix it with a hint of Spaniard flare, you will get an explosive cocktail called “Bull y Los Búfalos.” Their original songs sound like ZZ Top meets Robert Rodriguez. They define their unique sound as “Stubborn Rock,” a bold statement describing an unrelenting, powerful musical force, born from fiery passion and fierce determination.
“Bull y Los Búfalos” songs are featured in the International TV Show “Mayans MC,” a “Sons of Anarchy” spin-off on the FX Network.
The band recorded three studio albums, Ep’s, several singles and also a Live album where you can hear and feel their powerful performance!.
In 2019, they won the award as the” Best Rock band in Texas” by the MXD MAG Rock Awards, one of the most notable rock and metal magazines in the Lone Star state, including “Bull” as best Rock singer and all the members in their respective roles.
“Bull y Los Búfalos” performed as a Gibson artist at the NAMM show 2020 in Los Angeles, CA sharing the bill with Rock guitar legends Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Slash (Guns N Roses) and Don Felder (Eagles).
After many successful tours in Spain and Mexico, playing the largest three biker festivals in Latin America to crowds upwards of 25 thousand people, “Bull” decided to move to the US to grow their audience. Since then, they’ve played NBA halftime shows, SXSW, Harley-Davidson events and legendary venues like “Whisky a Go Go” and “The Canyon Club.”
Three recent music videos from the latest EP “Fury” have so far reached more than a half million views. “Dinero Primero,” the lead-off single, was featured in a national radio campaign on the LA Lloyd Rock 30 along with other radio stations in the Active Rock and Alternative formats.
The band finished 2022 with a very successful tour with Ace Frehley (KISS). 2023 began with a solo tour in Texas and continued in the Midwest touring with 38 Special and Anthony Gomes. In 2024 they came back to the Mid-West again with 38 Special and also Lynch Mob. After those shows, the band launched a new single/video “Divine Storm”. A powerful statement that describes a life of determination, strength, resilience, stubbornness and conquering goals.
Diego’s story and achievements are being narrated in the documentary “I took the Road less Traveled” (Summer 2025), that chronicles the musical journey of Diego ¨Bull¨ Avello from his small mountain town in northern Spain, chasing the American dream. The hardships, the victories, the perseverance and the passion for Rock and Roll and the American way of life. Directed by the Texas based production company ¨Penny Rock Productions¨ and presented by ¨L.A. Lloyd Rock 30¨ the film takes place in 3 countries, USA, Mexico and Spain and was filmed in 6 American states.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I still believe in the same things I used to when I was a child, about myself and about the world. I keep feeding the child inside me, the playful, naive, believer, and dreamer. Believing and dreaming are what brought me to where I am right now. I refused to conform to what society calls “maturity.” I think the biggest responsibility is to your own happiness. I’ve become the image I had of myself when I was a child, and that’s what I call maturity.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Be ready for a long, long, loooong road. It’s going to be a tough journey, but it’ll be worth every mile.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I can only answer this from my own experiences and point of view… I’m not a guru who knows everything about life and what’s right or wrong! But since you asked, here’s my opinion on it:
Smart people don’t necessarily mean emotionally smart. You can have many degrees in life and be an educated, sharp person with good analytical capacity, but at the end of the day, what really drives you is your feelings and emotions. Even when you think you’re making pragmatic decisions, that decision is mostly based on your emotions, whether you’re conscious of it or not.
The majority of people don’t want to take risks; they succumb to fear and social rules. they don’t want friction in their lives, and I understand, because friction can wear you down, but it can also sharpen you. I think being emotionally smart is being overlooked these days, and I’m not talking about being cold; I’m talking about being capable of being aware of your emotions. embracing them. understand them and using them in the most honestly way. I think the real analysis should be about the inner self, not the outside circumstances. That’s where, in my humble opinion, I think some smart people get it wrong.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m in nature, primitive camping by myself, I reduce my life to just the minimum needed to survive, surrounded by my own thoughts and my own company.
