We’re looking forward to introducing you to Favage. Check out our conversation below.
Favage, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
When I’m not in school, I can be eating breakfast and watching YouTube for 40 minutes to an hour because I got a bad habit of eating slow, but when I’m done eating, I can be seen working on music which can be making beats or writing lyrics for my song.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Fatima, but my artist name is Favage. I recently turned 21 and I make rap music and write lyrics, but I do different genres as well. By the time this article comes out, I’ve release two music projects one week apart. One is a silly little EP about roasting my friends and famous celebrities called “friendly fire”. The other is a deluxe version of another EP that I’ve released last year called “experiences”.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was 15, I really thought everyone wouldn’t take my rap career seriously because of my disability, but now I could care less because I have a lot of friends who supports my music.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, when I was in university, I had no time to work on my music that I had thoughts of pursuing something else I’m passionate about, but now I’d come to the conclusion that I can pursue both things that I’m passionate about at the same time.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The music industry says “go sign to a record label and you’ll have a lot of success!”, but I don’t buy it because I heard that half of the time, these labels controls their artists and I don’t like that, so, I rather be independent.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I have a creative mind, people can do a bunch of things no matter who they are or what are they passionate about, and I hope I can carry the mindset of being yourself and and being passionate about the things you love.
