Story & Lesson Highlights with Jenna Rose

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jenna Rose. Check out our conversation below.

Jenna, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
being in nature. disconnecting from the external world and reconnecting with the internal and the natural world around me. i love hiking, being on the water, napping on the beach, garden adventures and just sitting reading a book or meditating. when i need to ground, connect to myself, find clarity or just move from a place of self knowing, it’s always nature i find myself in again.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am currently in a transition phase. Working on closing out one chapter and reopening another. One of the things I appreciate about business and brands is the ability to always evolve + create change.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My father taught the most about work, during his life and through his death. Growing up, I was part of the generation where the baby boomers who were our parents believed there was only a couple ways to do life. And when it came to a job/business, it was very important to have stability, income, insurance. And less important to think outside of the box, be creative, try new ways, rewrite the script. So much propaganda and media telling everyone to think or believe a certain way. The concept of working hard to get ahead which often meant physical labor and a lot of hours. My father was a great entrepreneur for his time and an even better human, who was always on a mission to help others, especially with their dreams. I took a lot of that from him, and in his passing, where I saw him work himself to the bone for our family and others. I was able to also learn to do things a different way and take the risk of going against the grain. Going up against what society deemed as safe at that time. I learned how to create my life to work for me and with me. And now that mindset it all around me. The thing he taught me the most about business and living is to do this life with integrity. Be the person someone can count on to be true. At the end of the day we only have our word and who we are. It’s important to not take that lightly and be checking ourselves to make sure we are in alignment with all we can be and what we can offer the world.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
One of my current businesses I started with an ex partner, professional, and personal. Boy did I learn some lessons. There were many times during this period that I wanted to give up, especially with the business. Starting a business isn’t always easy, but having a partner that is battling their own demons and cannot show up for the company or you can make it near impossible. The last point where I wanted to give up was three years ago. And in those three years, I’m now sole owner of a profitable growing company but most importantly I learned lessons, I grew and wouldn’t be with business person I am without it. I’m at a point where it’s time to close this chapter completely but I’m also in a place where I wouldn’t have been where I’m at today ready to sell business personally and professionaly if I hadn’t gone through those times where I wanted to give up but didn’t. Resilience and fortitude are attributes that I value in myself and others.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say what really matters to me is the people around me. People that are in my circle, people that I don’t even know, anyone. Even as a child I’ve always had a nature that wants to nurture people, help people, and make them feel good about themselves. I value every person that I’ve met in this life, and I look forward with gratitude for the people I have yet to meet. I truly believe that every single person that comes into our world no matter for how short of time is meant to. It’s one of our greatest gifts that we are given, the ability to connect, support and learn from each other.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I have, in both of my businesses and in jobs that I’ve had along the way. I seek out that feeling. And when I can’t find it in what I’m doing then I have a gut check moment to make sure what I’m doing and what is occupying my time is really in value to me. Ironically I am closing the chapter on a business that is no longer serving me. I’ve been able to take the common denominator in what makes me wanna tap dance to work and that’s creating. I’ve always wanted to flip businesses, and one day I might. I love taking something that demands some attention, care, new ideas and making it grow. That’s something I will stay up all night for. I believe as humans we are meant to be in a creative state, and create whatever is a passion for us. We don’t have to be a rockstar or Have paintings in a museum to be a creator. We create our lives daily. In that creation, we can find that joy that makes us wanna tap dance to work. And I hope everybody does.
