We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jordan Huffman. Check out our conversation below.
Jordan, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I wake up around 5:30 and spend the first part of my morning either in the gym or on a run. Exercise fuels my day and is an essential part of my daily routine.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jordan Huffman, a Nashville Metro Council Member representing District 14 and a passionate advocate for public safety, responsible growth, and community-driven solutions. Alongside my work in local government, I serve as the Product Lead for Government Solutions at MasterBorn, where we help cities use technology to solve real-world challenges. What drives me is a commitment to making government more accessible, effective, and responsive, whether it’s through neighborhood beautification, improving infrastructure, or using data to inform smart policy. I’m currently focused on public safety initiatives, supporting local businesses, and making sure community voices shape the future of our city.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad has always been my biggest inspiration. He was the hardest working person I’ve ever known, balancing his role as a public school principal with running our family farm. Growing up, that meant early mornings tending to animals and long days working in the tobacco and hay fields.
I didn’t fully appreciate it at the time, but those experiences shaped me. They taught me that hard work, discipline, and determination can take you a long way in life.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Be patient in the search for true love. The woman of your dreams (my wife Lesley) comes into your life when you are 30.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe that small acts of kindness have a ripple effect far beyond what we can see or measure. You may never know the impact a gesture, a word of encouragement, or simply showing up for someone can have, but I truly believe it can change the course of someone’s life.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe public service is my calling. It is more than a job or a title; it is a deep sense of responsibility to use whatever skills, access, or influence I have to make life better for others. I am especially driven to advocate for those who often feel unseen or underserved. Helping people who are struggling or facing barriers motivates me every single day, and I am always looking for ways to create practical, lasting change. Whether it is pushing for safer neighborhoods, more accessible services, or greater opportunity, I see public service as a way to turn compassion into action.
