We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kaylee Tate-Smith. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Kaylee, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I am really enjoying leaning into the seasonal change into fall with baking. I’ve been making a lot of different types of bread and pumpkin flavored sweets.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kaylee and I love all things vintage, thrifted, and unique. My favorite thing to showcase is the multiple estate sales I go to every week. I love to show my followers the unique and one of a kind things you can find, as well as the more practical things you use everyday that you can get for super cheap at estate sales.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I think a relationship that most shaped how I see myself is the relationship I have with books. I’ve always had a love for the romantic and whimsical and I never knew how to express it. When I discovered the world of books, I found myself there. It made me learn to see myself as capable, independent, free, and unique.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I think the fear that has held me back the most is the fear of failing. I live and grew up in a pretty small town, and while I’ve always longed to move somewhere bigger, if even for a short time, I am so afraid of failing that I’ve never made the jump. I know getting out there to some place new could to wonderful things for me, but I’m still growing the courage.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I’d hope my closest friends would say what really matters to me is connecting with people. I believe relationships are a big part of life and I genuinely cherish connecting with the great people in mine.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I’d say something I understand deeply that some people don’t is that we are not supposed to have all the answers in this world. I believe God created all things and I’m okay with the fact that there are some things so complex with our world and universe that we as humans aren’t built to ever comprehend them.
