Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
“Right now, a normal day for me is a balance of creativity, business, and connection. I start by checking in on my boutique—managing online orders, curating new pieces, and engaging with customers. Then I shift to planning events for other small businesses, coordinating vendors, and building community connections. Evenings are usually reserved for strategy, brainstorming new ideas, and reflecting on ways to grow both my boutique and events. Every day is busy, but it’s full of purpose, creativity, and opportunities to empower others.”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Latonja Welch Smith, owner of Be Jeweled Boutique. My boutique is more than just fashion—it’s about helping women feel bold, beautiful, and empowered in every season of life. We specialize in stylish, affordable accessories and apparel that let women express confidence and shine in their individuality.
What makes Be Jeweled Boutique unique is the heart behind it. I infuse my brand with glam and community—curating pieces that inspire women not only to look good, but to feel good and walk in their purpose. Beyond the boutique, I also curate events that create opportunities for other small, minority-owned businesses to showcase their products and connect with new customers.
Right now, I’m working on expanding our online presence and continuing to build a community where fashion meets empowerment. At Be Jeweled Boutique, it’s not just about what you wear—it’s about how you shine from the inside out. ✨
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
“The part of me that seeks constant validation from others has served its purpose and must now be released. It helped me grow and pushed me to achieve more, but now I recognize my worth doesn’t come from outside approval. It’s time to release that and fully embrace confidence in who I am and what I bring to the table.”
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
“Yes, there was a time I almost gave up. Running a business, managing responsibilities, and trying to balance it all can feel overwhelming. I questioned if I was really making an impact and if all the sacrifices were worth it. But in that moment, I reminded myself of my ‘why’—to create spaces where women can feel empowered through fashion and to open doors for other small businesses through my events. That reminder kept me going, and today I’m grateful I didn’t give up, because every challenge shaped the woman and business owner I am now.”

“Yes, the public version of me is the real me. What you see is truly who I am—bold, authentic, and passionate about empowering others. I don’t believe in putting on a mask. Whether it’s through my boutique, my events, or in my personal life, I show up as myself. The same energy, drive, and love for community that people see publicly is the same energy I live by every day.”

“I feel most at peace when I’m in my creative flow—whether I’m curating looks for my boutique, planning an event, or simply journaling my ideas. Those moments remind me that I’m walking in purpose, and there’s a calm joy that comes with creating something that inspires others.”
