Story & Lesson Highlights with Megan Knight

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Megan Knight. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Megan, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
Any time I feel in a set routine or find myself walking down a straight and narrow path, I feel as if life gets too predictable and stagnant. I feel as an artist it’s extremely crucial in life to start saying ‘yes’ to opportunities you never thought you would just to see where the path leads. I thrive in wandering and honestly I think anyone would… it opens you up to entirely new worlds and elevates your soul.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Megan Knight is just the kind of country you have been waiting for. This salt of the earth unfiltered storyteller has the country twang, rock n roll swagger and unassuming pop edge that leaves the crowd on the edge of their seats waiting for the next song. Knight has opened for numerous national touring acts including Zach Top, Tigirlily Gold, Gary Nichols (The SteelDrivers), Love & Theft, Anthony Smith and Michael Franti & Spearhead. Known for her high-energy live performances, Knight has earned spots on major country festival stages, including Barefoot Country Music Festival—alongside Jelly Roll, Ella Langley, and Jordan Davis—and Nashville at the NAC, featuring Chris Janson. In addition, she’s performed official pre-party slots for Brad Paisley and Sam Hunt, further cementing her rising status on the live country circuit.

Knight has built a following from her stint on American Idol, television and radio appearances, including Fox 29, 92.5 XTU, Raw Travel, Today in Nashville, CMT, 6abc, Abc7NY, Young Country 96.7, KIX96 Country; Cat Country Radio, WSTW Radio; and from tirelessly touring for over a decade.

Knight began her journey as a full-time touring musician at just thirteen years old. By the end of her sophomore year, she left public school to fully dedicate herself to her craft. In 2015, Megan found mentorship in the legendary Muscle Shoals scene, working closely with acclaimed musicians and producers Gary Nichols, Jimmy Nutt, and James LeBlanc. Traveling regularly from her hometown in New Jersey to Alabama, she has spent over the past ten years writing, recording, and co-producing.

Her breakout moment came in 2018 when her single “Fade” was featured on CMT’s Racing Wives, introducing her to a national audience.

The following year, she collaborated with chart-topping producer MCV (Kane Brown, Lauren Alaina) to release “Bad Decision,” further solidifying her presence in the Nashville scene.

In 2022, Megan released My Drama, a concept EP exploring the five stages of grief through the lens of heartbreak and karmic love. The project resonated deeply with fans and media alike, earning features from CMT, Rolling Stone, E! News, and Hollywood Life.

In 2024, Megan had several singles off of her ‘My Drama’ EP featured in the Raw Travel TV Series in their episode ‘The Art of Living.’

Megan’s recent singles are leading up to a highly anticipated full-length LP, set for release in 2026. She is honored to have co-written and co-produced the tracks amongst country legends who have worked with the names of Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, The SteelDrivers, The Dead South, Taylor Swift, Kid Rock, and Martina McBride. She is excited for what is yet to come.

NEW SINGLE ‘LET IT RING’ releasing November 14, 2025. ‘Let It Ring’ is a bold, catchy breakup anthem where the singer flips the script on heartbreak. After catching her ex cheating, she drowns her tears in tequila and neon lights – not pity. Set against a backdrop of gritty guitars and a boot-stomping beat, she reclaims her power at the honkytonk, turning heartbreak into a celebration of freedom. It’s fun, fiery, and made for anyone who’s ever been done wrong and comes back stronger.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My mother has affected how I see myself the most. My mom has always encouraged me to follow my heart, dreams and trust my intuition. I’ve struggled with feelings of being perceived and I have a tendency to overthink a lot. She has taught me to learn how to let go and just authentically be myself even in moments where it can feel like a bit of a struggle. She’s taught me to look at myself as a vessel and to always try to let my personality and art shine without too much self judgement. She really taught me to believe in myself.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would honestly tell myself to post more often and write more often! I’ve harshly judged all of my own music since thirteen years old and it really held me back. I think I would have been further faster if I wasn’t always so worried about what everyone would think of me.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I really need to work on getting my personality across online. I am a constant jokester. I feel like unless you know me in person you don’t really know that just from looking into me. I’m always the real me but I feel like a lot of people don’t know my whole core yet.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m around family; I absolutely love my family. I think whenever I take time off from creating just to be with them.. it later allows so much more space for creativity to flow in ten fold once I’m alone again. Whenever I’m stressed out or in a bad place I know I just need to make more time for family because after that I will always feel refreshed.
