I recently got my learners permit after refusing to learn to drive after 10 years!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Morgan Matthews, I do freelance video editing under the name Scarnose Media, and I specialize in 2D motion graphic animations and animated typography. I can do all kinds of video editing, but my favorite thing to make is a lyric video! I’ve always loved music so getting to create visuals for it is my favorite thing on the planet. In total I’ve been editing for 13 years!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mom – she’s always been my biggest supporter and saw me in ways I never realized until I got older and thought back only to realize she was right!
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I graduated college in 2022, where I got my degree in video/film, and I had so many teachers telling me I’d have no problem getting editing work out of college. And I really pushed myself for a while, but I was barely getting any work, was barely getting engagement on social media, and it really just discouraged me from wanting to do it anymore. So I gave up editing for a few years until someone recently inspired me to get back to it, and I’m really glad I did because it’s always truly been what I love to do — I just forgot.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I firmly believe that the use of generative AI in art is immoral and evil and I will fight it until I can’t anymore. Art is something that needs to be created from the mind and soul of a human being, and people using AI to put in their portfolios or reels just really puts an immediate bad taste in my mouth.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop caring about every little thing that I do. I would stop focusing on the things that don’t matter, and I would take on every little impulsive exciting thing that comes to my mind.
