We’re looking forward to introducing you to Peyton McLain. Check out our conversation below.
Peyton, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m currently pursuing my dream of becoming a full-time makeup artist. Helping others feel their most confident and beautiful truly brings me joy—it’s a passion that goes beyond just a skill. Outside of my family, it’s what fulfills me most. Doing makeup allows me to connect with people, boost their self-esteem, and express creativity in a meaningful way. I can’t imagine doing anything else.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Peyton. I’m a part-time makeup artist working in both Georgia and Tennessee, and I’m always open to traveling for the right opportunities. While I currently balance being a full-time mom, wife, and working in the corporate world, my ultimate goal is to transition into makeup artistry as my full-time career. What sets me apart is the personal connection I build with each of my clients. When someone sits in my chair, I want them to feel like they’ve known me forever—comfortable, relaxed, and completely at ease. Creating that kind of atmosphere is just as important to me as the makeup itself.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Changing values or life paths sometimes break bonds simply because people grow in different directions. Even though people change reconnecting through laughter, support, or shared experience can restore bonds.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind things to my younger self it would be, don’t give up. Things get better for you and you do find the love you deserve.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. I don’t hold anything back.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
If I have any regret, it’s not starting my makeup career—or going to esthetician school—sooner. This work lights me up in a way nothing else does. The more I do it, the more I realize this is where I’m meant to be.
